High temperature and super energy efficient bogie hearth furnace

Bogie Hearth furnaces are used for batch heating treatment and is primarily used in sectors such as metal, wind or hydraulic energy industries, mechanical, petrochemical units and anything that comes under general heat treatment per se. to facilitate batch loading, these furnaces typically come with one sliding front door supported by electro-mechanical or hydraulic pressure that ensures a compact sealing process of the heating chamber. The bogie-hearth allows loading the pieces to be heated inside the chamber and acts as the heating ground as well once the material makes its way inside the furnace. There are several Bogie Hearth Furnace Manufacturers who are specialized in various heating requirements that cater to a wide range of industries.

Broad types of Bogie-Hearth Furnaces

Broadly, bogie hearth furnaces could be of the following two types –
  • TSCG – These are furnaces that are set ablaze directly by gas
  • TSCE – These are electrically heated systems
Few of the hardening treatments are

  • Hardening
  • Fluctuating the part to be heated at low and high temperatures
  • Annealing – a process that allows the material that has been heated to cool down gradually thereby eliminating the internal tensions and increase its tensile strength
  • Normalizing – a process that ensures that the heated material is brought back to its normal state after the heat treatment
  • Austenitising – this is a method where the material under consideration is heated above a critical level of temperature followed by quenching in order to transform it to the desired state
  • Stress Relieving Technique – In this method the metal is heated above and beyond the re-crystallization temperature and then cooled to induce ductility and make the material more homogeneous in nature
How the Furnace Works

Generally the side walls of the furnace chamber are sealed with the help of an adjustable joint which works based on the hydraulic forces principle. The heat insulation of the furnace consists of a ceramic fiber that is pressed in nature for the roof, side walls along with the front door. The flooring is done with insulated bricks and refractory concrete.

Heating System

The furnace heating structure contains two critical elements –
  • Open burners that are fired through gas directly that allows to control the combustion temperature levels since different levels of temperature is required in different processes. Sequential pulsating methods are frequently used.
  • Electrical resistances in the form of strip like or wire like elements are used for the heating purpose. Depending upon the heat requirement, either of these two is selected.
Conclusion

With the various applications of different metals, alloys and other compounds across almost any industry, heating of materials is a core industry and to facilitate this, there is an abundant supply of Bogie Hearth Furnace Manufacturers who have a deep expertise in this field. While the industries where this could be applied are numerous, there are manufacturers who serve a specific niche or genre of industries while others have made their mark in other industries. This being a core field requires high quality technology and equipment and the processes to be more efficient which some of the large players have a better edge in.
